Titan Fans,

It has been awhile since I have been able to write a journal. I have been swamped with tests, papers, and readings. In college, students go through waves of work. There may be two or three weeks where we really don't have much homwork, tests, or papers. Once mid-terms come around, things get real busy, and I just recently got through that. For the past week I have not had much to do, which has been extremely nice. It is crazy to think we only have two and half weeks of school left until finals. My grades are looking solid right now, so I can't complain.

So less then one week until we open at Manchester. I think I speak for everyone that we are real excited and are very anxious to get to the first tip off of the year. We are still putting some things together in practice, but the season is so young, and very long, so I am not worried. We are going to score on offense, but it is the heart we display on defense that is going to win us games. This, along with rebounding, is a central focus for our squad this year. If we can keep improving our intensity in practice and transfer this onto the court, I think we will see great results.

Teams across the nation have already played two to three games and it is awesome to see some of the close games and upsets that have occurred. The fact these teams have already played makes me want to play even more in order to get some games under our belt. I did not play in the Green/White game last Saturday because I have bruised my pelvic bone, not my tailbone, when I took a charge in the MacMurray Scrimmage. It is still painful to get on the court and play and I might go get some X-rays to make sure it is just a bruise and nothing too serious. If I find out it is a bruise, I'll be on the court fighting through any pain, there is no doubt about that. So cross your fingers...I guess this is better news then hearing that I have broken a foot again!

I am currently in 4th place in my NBA fantasy league...it's early, I'm not worried! Gas Guzzla...my little sister...made the sophomore basketball team at her high school, so I am real excited for her. I wanted to say congrats to the Women's Soccer Team who made it to the second round of the NCAA tourney, they won the first ever NCAA tourney game for women's soccer!

It is possible I, along with other players, may grace Kirk Johnson & Company over at Washington for a dinner at the Johnson household. It is rumored that their dinners are second to none and I am up to see if this is true.

It is my mother's birthday on Saturday! She is like 24 or 25...well, I guess that is not technically feasible, but everyday she is looking younger!

That is all I got. I have to register for a May Term course in 30 minutes and then I have practice.

Can't wait to get it going this weekend, I hope you all are as excited as I am!

Wesleyan Fans,

I'm back! I am also a little sore too! Seven practices deep and we have learned a whole lot as a team. As players, you never realize how hard you actually have to play until you get to practice. Open gyms, lifting and conditioning do a whole lot, but once you get down in a defensive stance for a whole 35 second shot clock, do fundamental close-outs, and then scrimmage at full speed, you definitely realize that as an individual, and as a team, there are many more steps that need to be taken to get into shape.

I think this is something that we, as a team, are learning. We are realizing that every play needs to be played with full effort and if one person lets down, the whole defense is let down. This is the same offensively too. We are implementing a whole lot of offensive options that can be hard to grasp right away, but these are things that need to be learned quickly, seeing as we have a scrimmage on Sunday.

Speaking of that, I am real excited that we are able to get out and compete against someone other then a teammate. It will be a great test to see where we are as far as our skills, endurance, and team chemistry goes.

Tomorrow, Saturday afternoon, our team is having a cookout before the Titan Football team plays at 6:00 P.M. I am very pumped to see my parents and my little sister. I haven't been able to get home since the start of school, so seeing them will bring a great comfort to me and I look forward to hanging with them!

That's about all around here. I am in a NBA Fantasy League with my 2 older brothers and some friends. I got second pick and got Kobe Bryant.  (Not a big fan of his, but I can't complain) I think I'm going to take the league by storm!

I just want to say hey to my brother Ryan who is teaching at Hersey high school, where my family and I attended, Kevin, who is doing his thing as a decathlete at Miami of Ohio, and Gunna G Gutta (Griffin) my little bro who plays at Augustana. (I still love the kid, but yes, he goes to Augustana!)..Hi Michaela (gas guzzla).

Until next time,

Titan Fans,

Let me start out by saying how excited I am to be able to write a player journal for everyone to see. I think that it is a great idea created by Q, and I want to thank him for this opportunity. I think that taking a look into the life of a student-athlete is something that everyone can enjoy. You all can see that there is more to me, and the team, then just being on the court. I am sure that the dedicated fans are, but keep a check on Zach Freeman's blog from Germany; he is doing something real special and it is great of him to share it with everyone!

Well there are about 2 more weeks until the season opens.  October 18th is marked on my calendar. It will be nice to put some things together during practices. We are playing open gyms now, which are going well, but it is a different game when we get into a system and I am excited to see what we can put together as a group. There are a bunch of new faces on the squad and I hope that everyone can take the time to get to know some of them. Don't be scared to go shake the massive hand of Ryan "BC" Connolly, believe it or not he is a very nice and humble man!

Personally, I am enjoying the year so far. I am taking an English class called "The Anti-Hero" and and Sociology class called "History of Social Thought." I am taking two business courses in "Intro to Risk Management" and "Financial Management." I am a business major so I am real interested in these classes. I am living in a house off campus now. No more dorms for me...that's a good thing. My roomates are Mike Lankford, Matt Giardino, and Elias Washington. Mike and Matt used to play baseball and some of you may remember Elias from basketball. We all get along real well and things couldn't be better in what we like to call "The Chickenwang"..long story, don't ask.

I just picked up an internship with at Aubry & Eustice with Mark Aubry, who, which I am sure most remember, played at IWU in the class of 95'. I am real excited to get some hands-on experience in the business world and I couldn't ask for a better person to work under then a former Titan basketball player.

Well it is about 11:30 at night right now, and I got to study for a test. It hurts to know that most people are sleeping right now while I am at the library. Oh well. I suppose it's this type of dedication that a student-athlete needs to have to stay on top of the game.

This is just the first to many! Go Cubbies!
