2005-06 Titan Player Journals

Keelan Amelianovich (6-6 Sr Forward, Naperville)

Entry #1 - January 8, 2006

Hello-

With beautiful California in the past, the rigors of the CCIW have finally come. Through two games of conference play it is evident that it will surely be a dogfight. Both NCC and Carthage both proved to be formidable opponents. The NCC game was an obvious disappointment for everyone on our team and not a good way to begin the conference season. That game is now in the past…enough said. Since then, we have had some good practices and have learned a lot on how we need to succeed from this point on. The mindset and goal that we have now is to win the next 13 games, something I think that this Titan team can only do, but only with hard work.

We escaped with a win at Carthage, despite some excellent shooting behind Jeffries and Imani. But as cliché as it sounds, a win is certainly a win. Winning a game by any margin can do wonders for a team. We hope this recent win will propel us on a roll again and bring back confidence in our abilities, both individually and as a team. Are there areas we need to improve upon? Most definitely. A very talented team with coaches who know how to win will continue to get better at every point in the season. Our ability to do this will determine how good we will actually be when it matters the most.

Now, our goal is to win the next 12 games. Millikin will be the next challenge as we know they have just beaten Elmhurst. Another challenge everyone on the team will have to face is getting back into the school mode. Classes start on January 9. With only one semester left, all of the seniors are approaching the finale of our academic and athletic careers. We will make sure to make the best of our opportunities! Also, it is a lot easier to not complain about classes because it appears to be better than working a full time job!

Take care,

Keelan
