Entry #1 - December 4, 2005
Hey Titan Fans-
First of all, I would like to apologize for taking so long in getting my first journal entry out to you. These writings are very enjoyable, as they allow us players to reveal what is running through our minds during the season. And I'm proud to say that I am happy with the way our season has progressed!
I am writing to you after having defeated the University of Chicago this afternoon, which gave us our 5th straight win of the season. We were not our usual selves today, but a win is a win, especially on the road. No team in any sport is capable of playing a perfect game night-in and night-out, for "to error is human." What is most important is that the team finds a way to win when things are not going its way, as we did today. We must enjoy every win that we get because they will be even harder to come by as the season progresses. But, in speaking for the entire team, I believe it will take everything a team has, and then some, for us to be beaten. This year is my last go-around, and I do not want to go out feeling empty as I have the past three years. Forget winning the CCIW-----WE WANT SALEM!!!
As our first semester of classes comes to an end, I am starting to realize that my time left here at IWU is running short. Before each game, Coach Trost reminds us seniors how many games we have left in our careers that are guaranteed. That number, which started at 100 when we first arrived at IWU, is now below 20! My fellow seniors and I have enjoyed the ride, and we hope to give ourselves a nice going away present by winning the national title in March. I can't think of a better ending, and I doubt that you can either.
Our next game is exactly a week away, so we have plenty of time to prepare for another victory. Washington University always gives us a game, but this is a different year and a different Titan team. As for now, we will continue to enjoy being undefeated. We appreciate your continued support…you really are the best fans in the country!
Until next time,
